It’s all about relationship.

Self. Family. Work. Community.

For over 20 years, I have been fortunate to provide services to people from all walks of life. I have been humbled to work with those courageously facing their own distress to find inner peace and growth within themselves. I am grateful to work within a team of amazingly insightful and creative therapists, providing clinical counselling rooted in compassion for people.

Our therapists ability to affect change is reflected in the sense of nurture clients express, as they embark upon their inner explorations of their own life stories. I believe it is the emotional safety created in relationship between our therapists and clients that allows space for healing.

Our therapists are licensed Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) or Certified Canadian Counsellors (CCC) and trained in multiple approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems and attachment dynamics and trauma interventions. We have comprehensive understanding of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the impact of these on problems of daily living as adults.

Our therapists have strong knowledge of symptomatic expressions of mental ill health, including anxiety, depression and problematic substance use. We are skilled at helping people self-regulate emotions, behaviours and nervous system disruptions.

Most poignantly…

Our therapists have strong insight into how people are affected by our interactions with each other. When negatively affected, people often get stuck in an exacerbation of symptoms, overwhelm or shut down of emotions, behavioural reactions and perceptions of self and others that keep a sense of feeling stuck. People often struggle with feeling misunderstood, alone, even unloved.

Some folks might be working through a bump in the road of a healthy relationship. Some people may be navigating family dynamics of connection or supporting a child or adult member who is struggling. Others may be seeking safety from a dangerous connection. Some people may be on an individual path of finding themselves amidst a crisis of hurt or loss.

We help people identify the ways they are affected by relationship. Calming the storm of symptoms, energizing the felt sense of self-discovery within a nurturing therapeutic support.

We help people discover their needs, practice relating with others from their core self and creatively find inner growth, positive connections and essentially thrive in life.

NWC Quote

Everybody has struggles, tend to spend a lot of time covering up those struggles, whether be shame, fear of judgement from others, fear of judgment of self, what we might feel? Yet, if we lean in to those same feelings that keep us struggling, we learn to embrace the aspects of ourselves that feel so difficult. We discover our needs, wants and with some gentle, self-nurturing, what we can action. Small changes that move us toward more joy in our lives. Embracing transformation ...it can be a truly liberating experience.
